Bulletin 1 2004
Yes, now that the long summer evenings are almost here, it's time to think of the Miniolympic games, the greatest event in the Institute sports and social calendar, when teams from different buildings do battle in a variety of sports and games. This takes place over a period of six weeks, probably 14 June till 23 July.
For a reminder of what happened last year, see archive below
You don't need to put your trainers on yet, but we do need to plan ahead, or like those planning the games in Greece, we shan't be ready in time. For now, we need some volunteers....
# Captains: people willing to organize a team from their area (twist the arms of colleagues). We had six teams last year, all mainly Institute-based. Eight teams would be ideal. It would be good to have the Royal Marsden involved too - can anyone suggest links there?
# Event organisers: the following events are likely - badminton, darts, football, pool, quiz, running, snooker, softball, squash, swimming (if the pool can be opened?), table tennis, tennis, tug-of-war (rained off last year!), volleyball. Any suggestions for others?
Please think about it, talk about it, and volunteer - and then we can work out a timetable.
