Route is towards Banstead via Chiltern Road, Fairway, Highdown and Downview
using roads and country paths

Rules
& Format :
Starting from outside the Downs club.
Each team can have as many runners as they like, places will only be
based on the combined time
of the fastest boy and girl from
each team. So if someone gets an injury half way round, it will not be
detrimental to the team so long as
there are others who finish.

Result:
We had excellent weather
and a good race. There were 17 runners in total. Two people made a minor detour
somehow, but everyone made it home.

The only controversial thing is the points for TM.
Krishna said they had no girls and he would run in jeans and would it be OK if
he ran and took
the slowest of all the girls times (plus
a min or two) to which a couple of the captains agreed. However, at the time I
don’t think anyone realised there
was a second faster TM person.
Were I to have given TM the slowest female time they
would have (just) come in fourth, making the efforts of Nilusha Maji and Alex
Yang a bit pointless
and rewarding TM for not fielding a full team. Therefore I decided it was
fairer to list the teams without a full team in time order after those with a
full team
(i.e. since TM was the only team without a full team – they come last). I
think they should probably be grateful they were not disqualified.
I hope this meets with your approval.
Hopefully Harry got some good pictures as well,
since he was at hand on the finish line.
